Being street smart is not the same as being book smart. Books are important. But it is also important to understand life and what it’s all about.
You are smart when you have a positive attitude . You are smart when you stay away from trouble, when you question what others are doing and why you are doing what you are doing.
You are smart when you know when to speak up and when to shut up. You are smart when you know when to say ‘No’. I have seen too many cases where teens die in motor car accidents because they were too timid or afraid to say “Stop! Let me out!” Ask the ones who survive, they’ll tell you they wish they had. You are smart when you put your personal safety first.
Being smart means having the courage to stand up for what you believe to be the right things.
Above all being smart means being street smart. Learn to be aware of what’s happening around you. Be brave enough to confront others when you believe they are up to no good. Most importantly, Know when to ask for help.
Be smart! Be safe! Be vigilant! Be street smart!
